Product Details

Randy’L is enrolled with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Fort Hall, Idaho. Illustrated by Aly McKnight, an enrolled member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and an artist and illustrator.

Sacajawea was a brilliant, multilingual Shoshone girl who was torn from her home at a young age. In 1804, she set out with the Lewis and Clark Expedition, acting as an interpreter and guide across hundreds of miles of unmapped land to reach the Pacific Ocean. Almost 200 years later, she became the first Indigenous woman to appear on a US coin. This is her story.

In year 2000 the United States Mint released a Native American Dollar coin to honor Sacajawea, a Shoshone girl from Idaho who guided the ‘Corps of Discovery’ or otherwise known as the Lewis & Clark Expedition of 1804-1806.  Audience: Ages 7-10.
